The Immersive Theatre Research Lab is the home of our "Sleep No More Observatory," a collaborative research project that explores how audiences experience and interpret the immersive theatre production Sleep No More.

This project is co-led by immersive theatre researchers Dr. Lauren Beck and Dr. D.J. Hopkins. Our goal with this Sleep No More Observatory is to create a shared digital space where immersive theatre fans, scholars, and critics can find detailed performance descriptions and contribute their own experiences, reflections, and analyses. To read more about this project, see our open-access chapter, "Everybody's Gotta Start Somewhere!" (January 2016).

The Observatory features a pilot version of our Sleep No More data visualization, which collects and organizes audience stories from a variety of sources — including responses to the form linked below — and makes them available for the public. By sharing your experiences at Sleep No More, you’ll be helping to build a public, participatory archive that values audience voices as a vital part of immersive theatre history. Participation is voluntary, and all responses are handled with respect, consent, and transparency.

We hope you'll join the conversation, either as a researcher or a contributor!
